Ruby Fatimilehin
Assistant Editor, Hamish Hamilton
I work across all titles on the distinctive and eclectic Hamish Hamilton list. I am the in-house editor for the Black Britain: Writing Back series, focused on republishing seminal backlist writing by black British authors. I also read, commission and edit for Five Dials, where I have a particular interest in poetry.
I am passionate about fiction that defies boundaries – whether in genre, form or voice – and I am particularly drawn to stories engaging with postcolonial legacy, gender and sexuality. In non-fiction, I am interested in explorations of subculture, marginalised histories, personal writing with a political essence, and books that aspire to facilitate wider social change.
