At Viking Non-Fiction, the team and I publish non-fiction by authors ranging from world leaders to cutting-edge scientists, bestselling journalists to prize-winning historians, and whatever field they’re in, they’re best in class and outstanding communicators. Working with all our colleagues, we love to make culture happen.

I mainly publish in the areas of modern history and biography, philosophy, politics and psychology – authors I publish for Viking include Jonathan Dimbleby, Fred Logevall, Ben Macintyre, Barack Obama and Michelle Obama; I also acquire for Penguin Life, where I publish authors including James Nestor, Billy Oppenheimer, Haemin Sunim and Alison Wood Brooks.

I especially love books that are a landmark work/series; that look at a big subject in an intimate way; and that relates to everyday life. I love working with expert authors from the initial idea – around 50% of Viking’s non-fiction is commissioned pro-actively – to thinking about their next book.
