Ruby soon takes in injured terrier Mac, and rescues a stray kitten, Tess, but when all the local cats mysteriously disappear, she knows she needs to do more, and with the help of her friends plans a small-scale monthly clinic. Soon opposition comes from all sides, including her family and the local vet, can Ruby and her friends pull together to show them that in wartime every life matters?
I was hooked from the start. The meticulous period detail and true-to-life characters had me immersed in the action, and I didn’t want the story to end. A joy to read
