Prize Draw Terms and Conditions

  1. The prize draw is open to all UK residents aged 18 years or over, except employees of the Promoters and their group companies, their families, agents and anyone else connected with this promotion.
  2. The prize draw is free to enter and no purchase is necessary. There is a limit of one entry per person. Entries on behalf of another person and joint submissions are not permitted.
  3. Entries must be received by 11.59pm (GMT) on Friday 15th November 2024. The Promoters accept no responsibility for any entries that are incomplete, illegible, corrupted or fail to reach the Promoters by the relevant closing date for any reason. Proof of posting or sending is not proof of receipt. Automatically generated entries or entries via agents or third parties are invalid and shall not be considered. Entries become the property of the Promoters and are not returned.
  4. Only one entry per person. No entrant may win more than one prize.

  6. All valid and correctly completed entries received by the closing date will be entered into a prize draw which will take place on Friday 15th November 2024. The first five entries drawn at random will be the winners. There will be 10 runners up.
  7. Five winners will receive an RHS (individual) membership, worth £74 pa, plus a hardback copy of England: A Natural History by John Lewis-Stempel. Ten runners up will receive a hardback copy of England: A Natural History by John Lewis-Stempel.
  8. Prizes are subject to availability and there is no cash prize alternative. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the Promoters reserve the right (a) to substitute alternative prizes of equivalent or greater value and (b) in exceptional circumstances to amend or foreclose the promotion without notice. No correspondence will be entered into.
  9. The winners will be notified via email by Friday 6th December 2024. The winner must claim their prize within 30 days of the Promoter sending notification. If the prize is unclaimed after this time, it will lapse and the Promoter reserves the right to offer the unclaimed prize to a substitute winner selected in accordance with these rules.
  10. By entering this competition, all entrants agree to the use of their personal data by the Promoters for the purposes of running the competition as detailed in these terms and conditions.   11. The decision of the Promoters regarding any aspect of the prize draw is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it.
  12. The Promoters are Penguin Books Limited, One Embassy Gardens, 8 Viaduct Gardens, London, SW11 7BW and Royal Horticultural Society
  13. The promoters must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation the the Promoters will send the surname and county of the prize winner to anyone who contacts: https://www.rhs.org.uk/about-us/contact-us within one month after the Closing Date. If you object to either or both of your surname and county being published or made available, please contact the RHS and nbooks@penguinrandomhouse.co.uk. In such circumstances, the Promoters must still provide this information to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
  14. Participants are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions upon entry. The RHS reserves the right to refuse entry, or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.
  15. The Promoters reserve the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, or amend the promotion where it becomes necessary to do so.
  16. Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoters, their agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the RHS, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
  17. The prize draw is governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
