About the authors

William Morris

Arts and Crafts pioneer William Morris (1834-1896), was famous for his wallpaper and fabric designs and his mastery of colour. A social reformer as well as a designer, he called for a return to crafts, the use of natural - rather than manmade - materials, and designs that were both practical and beautiful. His belief that beauty had the power to transform everyday lives revolutionised British design, and his ideas continue to inspire people today.
