Make some star-shaped biscuits from The Witch’s Vacuum Cleaner
Get the party started with a batch of bewitching star cookies. Witches and wizards will hoover up these tasty star cookies inspired by The Witch’s Vacuum Cleaner by Terry Pratchett.
You will need:
For the biscuits:
• 100g unsalted, softened butter
• 100g caster sugar
• 1 free-range egg
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 275g plain flour
To decorate:
• Coloured sugar paste
• Leftover jam
How to make them:
For the biscuits:
1. Preheat your oven to 190C
2. Line a baking tray with some greaseproof paper and mix butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until creamed - it should look pale and fluffy
3. Mix the egg and vanilla extract together, and then add the flour until the mixture forms a dough
4. Roll the dough onto a floured surface, making sure the dough remains around 1cm thick
5. Using star-shaped biscuit cutters, cut the biscuits out and place onto your baking tray
6. Bake the biscuits for 8-10 minutes, they should be golden-brown. Put aside to harden and cool on a wire rack
For the icing:
1. Roll out coloured sugar paste
2. Cut out star shapes using your star-shaped cutters
3. Stick to the biscuits using a warm, leftover jam
