The author
Kate Ferdinand, former TOWIE star, has quickly become one of the UK's most relatable women, having recently married professional footballer Rio Ferdinand and taken on the role of stepmum to his three young children. Their intimate documentary Rio and Kate: Becoming a Stepfamily aired on BBC One in 2020 with an incredible consolidated audience of over 7 million viewers. They have since welcomed their first baby together, and in December 2021 Kate released her new venture Blended, a platform for blended families to share their experiences and advice, and her podcast celebrating blended families. With her first picture book for children, The Family Tree, Kate aims to help children of blended families feel seen, heard, and appreciated.
The illustrator
Emma Randall was born and raised in Northamptonshire, where some of her earliest memories include scribbling away on reams of paper that her Dad would bring home from work by the box load and writing her own stories. She loves designing characters, and detailed patterns and using bright colour palettes, working initially with lines, and then bringing them to life using an eclectic array of paint, pens, pencil crayons, and digital media. She lives on the outskirts of Bristol with her husband and three children.
The Family Tree by Kate Ferdinand will be released on 8 June 2023.
