Would you like a Penguin Lit in Colour vending machine for your school library?

Nominate your secondary school

Please note that this suggestion box has now closed.

In 1934, our founder Allen Lane decided to start Penguin Books after he couldn’t find anything to read at Exeter St Davids train station. Almost 90 years later, you can pick up a book for your travels from the Penguin Books vending machine at that same historic location.

Lit in Colour, an initiative that supports inclusive reading in schools, carries on Allen Lane’s mission today. Working with our partners at Graddon vending, we’ll be donating a Penguin Books vending machine filled with books from our Lit in Colour 'Incomplete' Book Lists to one UK state secondary school.

If you’re a teacher or a librarian who’d like to see one of these made available to your students, nominate your school by Friday 21st April 2023.
