Jon Sopel

Jon Sopel was the BBC's North America Editor for 8 years, before launching The News Agents podcast with Emily Maitlis and Lewis Goodall in August 2022. During his time at the BBC, he covered the 2016 and 2020 elections and Trump's White House at first hand, reporting for the BBC across TV, radio and online, as well as presenting the highly successful Americast podcast with Emily Maitlis and Anthony Zurcher.

He is the author of If Only They Didn't Speak English: Notes from Trump's America, A Year at the Circus: Inside Trump's White House and UnPresidented: Politics, Pandemics and the Race that Trumped All Others.

Emily Maitlis

Emily Maitlis is a British journalist and news presenter. She notably presented the BBC Flagship nightly current affairs show Newsnight where she specialised in election coverage in the UK and the USA. She now hosts The News Agents, the Global daily news podcast, with Jon Sopel and Lewis Goodall.

She is the author of Airhead: The Imperfect Art of Making News, and lives in London with one husband, two sons, and a large whippet.

Lewis Goodall

Previously a journalist at the BBC and Sky News, Lewis Goodall has worked on various news programmes including Victoria Derbyshire, BBC Radio Four, as well as a couple of years as Newsnight's policy editor. In 2022, he left the BBC to launch The News Agents daily podcast with fellow BBC journalists Emily Maitlis and Jon Sopel. He is the author of Left for Dead?: The Strange Death and Rebirth of the Labour Party.
