The new movie will see the return of Peter, his sisters Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-Tail and cousin Benjamin as they embark on a high energy adventure meeting some new characters along the way. The first Peter Rabbit™ movie, which was based on the internationally beloved series of books written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter, grossed over £268M ($351M USD) at the global box office earlier this year.

The film will be written and directed by Will Gluck and made at Animal Logic, the Australian based animation and visual FX production studio. Animal Logic previously created the animation for the first Peter Rabbit™ film. Will Gluck (Olive Bridge Entertainment) and Zareh Nalbandian (Animal Logic Entertainment) are both attached to produce the feature.

Frederick Warne has been Beatrix Potter’s publisher since its publication of The Tale of Peter Rabbit in 1902 and is the home of the Peter Rabbit™ brand.

Responding to the announcement, Jamie Stevens, EVP, Worldwide Consumer Products, Sony Pictures Entertainment said, “We are excited to be collaborating with Penguin Ventures again and continue our success from the first film.”

Susan Bolsover, Licensing and Consumer Products Director, Penguin Ventures added: “We’re thrilled to be working with Sony Pictures Entertainment again and look forward to expanding our successful licensing and consumer products programme for this second movie.”

Peter Rabbit™ 2 is scheduled to release in the US on February 7, 2020 and in the UK on March 27,2020.
